Making A Difference
Safe Passage Family Resource Center is a small non-profit community agency. Founded in 1996 in effort to improve the quality of life for families in our coastal communities, particularly the overburdened families. We work hard to ensure the parents and caregivers of children in our coastal communities have access to resources, information, support and services.
Safe Passage FRC serves as the hub for family-based services in ourrural area. Last year we assisted over 400 local families with housing assistance and connections to vital resources. Sadly, as the need grows in our community, our funding streams have decreased.
Currently, along with the devestation of the global pandemic, we are now affected by the wildfire season which brings many evacuations and devestating loss. As more families come to us in need of services, we have cut back programs that are vital to empowering and strengthening our community.
We have had to eliminate important programs such as:
Our Get Set for Kindergarten class - for children who’ve never been to preschool
Tutors to assist homeless and inadequately housed students who’ve fallen behind in school because of frequent absences
Tutors to work with second grade English language learners who are struggling academically
A support group for fathers
Many parenting groups/classes
Monthly clothing closet
Since opening our doors in 1996, we have achieved overwhelming success at empowering families to be become self-sufficient, nurturing and active in their community!
As our local families rely on us for support and services, we rely on our community for the help and support that enables Safe Passage to continue empowering the families who will strengthen our communities!
We Make Change Happen
We believe it takes a community to raise a child, and everyone has a role to play.
Whether it’s volunteering your skills,
donating your birthday to raise funds and awareness,
or engaging your coworkers in a fundraising challenge.
Everyone has a role to play in strengthening our community.
Here are some of the ways you can invest in our children and our community.
So Many Ways To Volunteer!!!
Interns & Volunteers
With only a handful of employees, volunteers are a much needed and very appreciated asset! We have a many ways that you can volunteer and make a difference.
Assist in the office and greet parents and caregivers who come in, answer phones, take messages, share information and resources, etc...
Tutor a student... Help with translation... Assist at one of our events...

A gift of your professional skills or
services such as:
Sponsoring a fundraiser
These vital gifts will never go unappreciated.
Do you have a skill set or hobby you would love to share? Consider instructing a one time
(maybe more, if you want) group for children, adolescents, parents/caregivers or families.
Contributing To Success
Your gift, no matter how small you think it is,
WILL create a positive impact!
Imagine the possibilities if you, and everyone you know, gave $1 each…
Every little bit from $1 to $5, $10, $20 or $50 will make a substantial difference in the future of a child in your community.
Make a Commitment
Wouldn’t it be fun to challenge your family, friends or coworkers to make a monthly pledge with you?
A group of people turns a smaller gift into a larger one!
Or simply make a pledge on your own, and every month, proudly share on social media how you are contributing to the success of local children in your community.
Small contributions given on a regular basis make a considerable difference.
You can easily make your monthly gift through PayPal.

How Less Is Always More
One Simple Dollar Will Make A Difference
Sponsor a Fundraiser/Community Event
We hold events throughout the year to raise awareness for children, youth and families in crisis.
Sponsor a group/class or a playgroup
Due to funding cuts, we have had to eliminate programs/groups that are vital to family strengthening.
Your sponsorship of a playgroup or class will not only benefit the families involved, but our community as well.
Consider sponsoring one of the important groups that we had to eliminate....
Contribute to our
Rental Assistance Fund
Rents are high, and increasing...
wages are not!
Did you know that over 59% of renters in Mendocino County spend more than 30% of their income on housing?
Over 1/3 of our local residents are renters.
Many of our local families live in substandard and/or unsafe housing.
Your donation to our rental assistance fund helps us bring hope to struggling families.
For some, it assists with finding safe housing for their children.
For others, it can be a much needed support during a tragic loss of income.
By preventing a family from eviction, you give parents a bit of breathing room as they work to stabilize their living situation.
